Portland, OR — Mark your calendars for October 5th, 2024, as the Artist Mentorship Program (AMP) celebrates its 30th Anniversary at the Mission Theater! For three decades, AMP has been a beacon of hope for young people in Portland, empowering youth through creative expression and providing vital resources to those experiencing homelessness.
This milestone event by AMP promises an exciting lineup featuring performances by Quasi, Camp Crush, and The Mistons, along with a special address from Tina Kotek.
Together, we will reflect on AMP’s incredible journey and the impact of our community support while looking ahead to a brighter future for the youth of Portland.
About the Artist Mentorship Program (AMP)
AMP is a Portland-based non-profit that creates a safe, creative space for homeless youth, enabling them to build healthy, relationship-centered communities through music and art activities. Since its establishment in 1994, AMP has believed that youth experiencing homelessness are resilient and deserving of a support system that nurtures healing from trauma with help from AMP.
AMP provides a variety of services, including:
- One-on-one music instruction
- Art lessons and workshops
- Access to a professional recording studio
- Performance opportunities
- Live sound and recording engineering training
- Group jam sessions
- Arts and culture events, including outings to museums and concerts
- Meal services
- Hygiene and first aid support
Open five days a week, AMP’s drop-in center serves as a vital hub of support for youth, offering nutritious meals, social services, music and art education, and connections with adult mentors.
Additionally, AMP’s mobile outreach team brings resources to various locations throughout Portland, including homeless service providers and urban camping sites.
One of the most popular features at AMP is the recording studio, where professional engineers teach youth to navigate industry-standard software like Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, and Ableton Live.

About the Mission Theater
The Mission Theater, located at 1624 NW Glisan St, Portland, OR 97209, is a historic venue with a rich legacy,originally built in 1912. Known for its intimate atmosphere, the theater accommodates around 200 attendees, making it a perfect setting for concerts and community events like the 30th Year Anniversary Bash by AMP. Featuring modern sound and lighting systems alongside its vintage charm, the Mission Theater fosters a sense of community and supports local artists. Its café and bar area will provide attendees with refreshments, enhancing the overall experience of the 30th Anniversary Concert.
